There are large number of Village Level Institutions (VLIs) – more than 546 formed and facilitated by Mahiti Trust that undertake different issues ranging from handling money to establishing linkages with financial and other Government and Non-Government Institutions to broad basing their savings and credit opportunities for solving routine problems of debts, health, education, food etc or for initiating or expanding some enterprises in groups or individually. Some VLIs undertake activist mode on social issues while others follow Government Guidelines and formulate rules and regulations for carrying out natural resource’s management programs. The Disasters Preparedness and Management Committees take up the roles of making communities aware and capable of coping up with possible disasters in meaningful manner. Mahiti Trust organizes capacity building measures either through in-house trainings or exposures of all the VLIs from time to time to enable them to undertake responsible decisions for self reliance and sustainable development. All the interventions are channeled through Village Level Institutions organized by the especially appointed community organizers. Table gives details of Village Institutions organized, formed, and facilitated over the years by Mahiti Trust.
